Elran Dekel is the lead singer, songwriter, and co-founder of Funk’n’stein, one of Israel’s pioneering funk and soul bands. Since the early 2000s, the band has built a strong reputation through explosive live performances, festival appearances, and a growing international following among funk lovers around the world. Inspired by artists such as Parliament-Funkadelic, James Brown, and Sly and the Family Stone, Funk’n’stein developed a unique sound blending deep funk, soul, psychedelia, and groove-driven songwriting.
After beginning as a cover band, Funk’n’stein shifted to original material and released their debut double album, The Band, in 2006, followed by The Next Level in 2009.
In 2011, after an intensive year of studio work, Funk’n’stein premiered their ambitious live production Mega Dimension of Funk Religion — a large-scale psychedelic funk show combining powerful musicianship, theatrical energy, visual elements, and the band’s explosive stage performance into a unique live experience.
In 2014, the band released the EP Where You Gonna Go?, continuing to expand their psychedelic funk direction. Over the following years, the band released singles including “Ready For Love” (2018), “Stronger” (2018), “Flow With Me” (2020), and the EP Doin Fine (2021), continuing to evolve their sound while maintaining their signature groove.
Funkenstein’s music reached audiences far beyond Israel, gaining a dedicated fan base throughout Europe and especially Eastern Europe, where the band developed a strong following after their music became featured as the soundtrack of a major Russian television show. Over the years, the band has performed internationally across England, Holland, Germany, Poland, Austria, France, Russia, and Australia. Nearly two decades after the release of The Band, Funk’n’stein continues to create, perform, and connect generations of funk listeners worldwide, while approaching the celebration of 20 years since their debut album.
